WoodyWoof Project

The WoodyWoof Project provides hand-knitted blankets to infants in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and to children and teenagers with long hospitalizations and chronic illnesses. The blanket is intended to provide comfort and warmth while the child is in the hospital and at home. The project is named in memory of a dog who was an animal-assisted therapy dog for many years and gave great comfort and joy to everyone he touched.

For more information, contact the California Pacific Medical Center volunteer office at cpmcvol@sutterhealth.org.

afghans for Afghans

afghans for Afghans is a humanitarian and educational people-to-people project that sends hand-knit and crocheted blankets and garments to the beleaguered people of Afghanistan.

This grassroots effort is inspired by Red Cross volunteers who made afghans, socks, slippers, and other items for soldiers and refugees during World Wars I and II and at other times of crisis and need.

Any knitters interested in knitting blankets, hats, vests, etc. for this project can come by the store and get yarn freebies. Finished projects can be returned to the store for shipment to Afghanistan.
